Ben Davies backs Tottenham Hotspur stars Harry Kane and Son Heung-min to get back on the score sheet again
According to the Daily Star, Tottenham Hotspur full-back Ben Davies believes his forward colleagues are too good to be missing out on scoring goals in three consecutive games.
Tottenham’s forward duo – Harry Kane and Son Heung-min, haven’t scored a goal in the last 180 minutes of action. Their failure has affected the team’s overall performance in recent matches.
Tottenham haven’t secured a win in their last two games and as a result, they now trail city rivals Arsenal by 2 points, who are currently in the 4th spot of the Premier League table.
As the top-four race is hanging by a thread, it’s natural that the forwards’ performance could be a concern for the team. But, Wales defender Ben Davies believes it’s only a matter of time before his colleagues start converting chances into goals.
“I’m sure those boys are well aware of what’s been said about that. But we’ve got two world-class players in that position. There’s no doubt in our minds that it’s just one of those things. What they’ve done for us in the past few years, and this season as well, we’re not in a position to critique them at all. We have two serious world-class forwards here. When you have players of that quality, it is a matter of time.”
Davies also acknowledged the importance of the manager in the team’s overall performance. He termed Antonio Conte as a world-class coach and suggested how they are lucky enough to have him on board. Spot on from the Welshman.
Can Tottenham secure the top four spot this season?
Kane and Son remain the two most prolific forwards for Tottenham in this campaign. But this isn’t just the story of this term, as the deadly duo has been rampant in England for the past several seasons.
They have had some patches where they struggle to score, but they always find a way to return to scoring form. Kane didn’t have much luck with his shooting at the start of this spell, but he returned on the scoresheet mid-season and has been impressive ever since. Considering the kind of performances they have shown in this term, the team’s reliability on them is understandable.
Davies’ comments suggest that he has great confidence in his colleagues’ abilities. Considering he has seen the forwards play in training sessions, this confidence probably isn’t baseless.

Tottenham were way far from the top four before Antonio Conte took over. However, the Italian manager has made a massive impact on their performance, resulting in better results in later games. He has also helped Harry Kane find his form, which was unattainable in the first half of the season.
Kane and Son have the chance to end their min-drought in front of goal when they take on Leicester City today. It is a must-win game for the Lilywhites if they fancy their chances of making the top four, considering they have to face Arsenal and Liverpool in the coming weeks.
