Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte is keen admirer of West Ham United star Tomas Soucek
According to Alasdair Gold, the club’s correspondent for Football.London, Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte is suggested to be a keen admirer of West Ham United star Tomas Soucek. He is one of the best players in the Premier League in his position, having formed a formidable partnership with Declan Rice at the base of the midfield.
Conte is believed to be a fan of Soucek’s talents, but Tottenham are not expected to target the midfielder if there are no exits this summer. However, Harry Winks is tipped to leave N17, having struggled to earn game time even with Oliver Skipp’s long term injury.
That could potentially pave the way for Spurs to try their cards for a potential move. However, Soucek could still not be targeted since Conte could decide to sign a more-attack minded midfielder to provide the right balance to his current set of options. Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse, who falls in that category, is currently being linked to Tottenham.
Spurs need Tomas Soucek?
Soucek has been excellent for West Ham throughout the current campaign, having enjoyed one of the best seasons so far. He has six goals and an assist to his name, which is a great asset indeed for a holding midfielder. That could help him stand out from the rest as our midfielders have not been involved much directly in the goals.
We only have four options in midfield at this moment, which is not ideal for a long season. After all, with multiple competitions to play in, the risk of injuries or suspension are highlighted, which could adversely affect our aspirations if there is no adequate depth to take care of such issues.
However, it seems that we may not target the Czech Republican since more attack-minded options are given preference. With Ward-Prowse being a potential choice, that is certainly a possibility that we could see if Conte does want to restructure his midfield.
However, if Winks does leave us after this season, it opens up a slot for a pivot option as we do require additions even with the former in the team. As such, it will be interesting to see if there are further developments on the matter surrounding Soucek moving forward.

Soucek, being just 27 years of age while possessing the experience of playing in the English top-flight, would be a great addition to our squad, especially when we have to take on the big guns like Liverpool and Manchester City if there are plans to win trophies.
It remains to be seen if there will be any solid developments regarding Conte’s admiration of the Hammers midfielder in the future. Let’s hope to see him in our team next season, as we could use someone like him moving forward.
