Ryan Sessegnon unconcerned about talks surrounding Antonio Conte and his Tottenham Hotspur future
Ryan Sessegnon is adamant that he is unconcerned about the talks surrounding Antonio Conte and his future at Tottenham Hotspur. The defender even added that the feeling is mutually shared by his teammates, which is a sigh of relief, to say the least.
Conte’s future has been a hot topic over the past week or so, which has even been a headline talk during that period. It was even claimed that the boss had offered his services to Paris Saint-Germain for the managerial role next season. The coach has since then shut down those claims, and now Sessegnon has revealed that they were not affected by these rumours.
Speaking in an open interview (h/t Football.London), Sessegnon has admitted that he and his teammates were not worried about such news as their focus had been completely on what was happening on the pitch. The 21-year-old added that they had nothing to fear about when Conte himself denied those claims regarding his future.
“Not really, not at all. We’re professionals and we focus on our game and step by step. You heard him yourself it’s obviously false news, he’s focusing on here at the club. As players, we’re just focusing on our job going forward and that’s all we can do.”
Would Conte stay at Spurs?
That being said, Conte’s future remains uncertain even now, but Sessegnon is hoping that the manager will stay with them moving forward. The English defender added how they would need the Italian boss to help them achieve their objectives and build for the next campaign.
“Of course, he’s a top manager and he’s shown that with us this season. We hope he’s here next season and for us, the main objective is to get in that top four and then prepare for next season.”
Conte did convey that he will have a meeting with the North London side to decide what’s best for both parties this summer. That leaves us questioning and even worrying about the possibility that he may leave at the end of this term.
However, we remain confident that should the board agree to back the 52-year-old coach, he will continue to build on the current project. Whether that will happen or not, though, would only be known in due time.

We should probably expect more news like this in the coming months, so it is good to hear that the players are not affected by them. After all, we would not want them to get caught up in the mix and get distracted by the worries surrounding the man in charge.
Hence, Sessegnon’s words do give some assurance that the entire squad continue to give their everything despite the rumours surrounding Conte’s future. Ideally, we would want the latter to stay, but in case of a worst-case scenario, it does give us a sigh of relief that the players would carry on fighting moving forward.
