Ryan Sessegnon feels Arsenal have the advantage in the top-4 race
Speaking in an interview ahead of Tottenham’s clash against Burnley as quoted by Mirror, Spurs wingback Ryan Sessegnon has claimed that Arsenal have a slender advantage in the top-4 race but Tottenham must be focused on overcoming the Clarets.
Spurs take on Burnley in the penultimate game of the Premier League season as they look to keep the fight up for a top-4 spot and put pressure on Arsenal. The Lilywhites no longer have their fate in their own hands and depend on Arsenal to drop points.
Having just beaten Arsenal 3-0 in the famed North London Derby in midweek, Spurs kept their Champions League hopes alive. Harry Kane scored a brace against the Gunners with Son scoring the other goal helping Antonio Conte’s team to overcome Arsenal.
Speaking about his team’s chances for a top-four spot, Sessegnon opined that all Spurs can do is win their remaining games and hope for the best. Easier said than done but it is what we must do to pip Arsenal to the fourth spot.
“Arsenal still have the advantage. They’re one point ahead. You could say the momentum is with us after the great win on Thursday but that’s done now. We need to focus on Burnley. It probably is the best way to just get the Burnley game over and to get the win”
How are Tottenham’s chances?
Both Arsenal and Tottenham have two games remaining each in the Premier League season and the first thing that Spurs need to ensure is that they win their remaining two games on hand.
On paper, Antonio Conte’s side has fairly easy matches with relegation-threatened Burnley and Norwich City on the horizon. However, while the Canaries have nothing to play for but pride, the Clarets will be motivated to get a win as they look to avoid the drop.
Arsenal, on the other hand, face Newcastle United and Everton and whilst both are definitely not easy fixtures on paper, Mikel Arteta’s side must be confident of ending up on the winning side in these two games considering they are above all of them in the table.
Irrespective of what Spurs do in these two games, if the Gunners were to win there is nothing that Antonio Conte’s side can do. Right now the only thing in their hands for Tottenham is to win the remaining two games and hope for the best.

Luckily for us, the top four race isn’t as tight and unforgiving as the race for the PL title. Teams around us have been dropping points more frequently than Manchester City and Liverpool- who look untouchable at the summit right now. And hence, Spurs fans would hold an honest belief that if Spurs win their two games, they will make the UCL spots for next season.
