Tottenham are ready to splash the cash for Gleison Bremer
According to Italian outlet Calciomercato (h/t Daily Express), Tottenham Hotspur are ready to splash the cash for Torino defender Gleison Bremer in case they fail to lure away Alessandro Bastoni from Inter Milan.
The Brazilian has proven to be a top-class defender and is a rock at the back for Torino. The 25-year-old also won the Serie A defender of the season award for his scintillating display and it seems he could be ready for a bigger challenge.
After getting a £150m cash injection earlier in the summer, Tottenham are eyeing to strengthen their defence. Antonio Conte didn’t get his preferred defensive line last season, but he would be eyeing to change that scenario in the following term with some top-class defenders already shortlisted for the role.
Spurs have identified Bastoni as their prime target based on the fact that he would be comfortable playing on the left side of a three-man defence. However, if their pursuit fails, they have also identified Bremer as the backup option.
The Brazilian defender has been heavily linked with a move to Inter Milan who are currently offering £21m to Torino for his services. However, the Italians are demanding double of what the Nerazzurri have offered. It is now believed that Tottenham are ready to splash the cash and are willing to go as high as £43m.
Should Tottenham sign Bremer?
The Brazilian has been a reliable defender in the Serie A for the last two seasons. His solid defensive work has attracted appreciation and individual accolades, but he hasn’t been able to compete for trophies. As the 25-year-old is entering his peak years and might fancy switching his outfit for a more competitive one.
After signing Bremer, Antonio Conte would be able to get his preferred back line with three central defenders pairing. As the manager had spent two distinctive spells with Inter in Italy, he might have assessed the defender in detail while playing against him. Now he would be able to use that knowledge in improving his qualities and using it to the advantage of the Spurs.

But, Bastoni seems to be a more logical fit for the team than the Brazilian. Hence our board should do everything in its power to secure the move of the Inter defender. Now as we have the financial backing we can threaten the Nerazzurri for Bremer and force their hand for Bastoni.
