Tottenham have renewed confidence in their pursuit of Inter Milan ace Alessandro Bastoni
Signing Inter Milan star Alessandro Bastoni is a priority for Tottenham’s Director of Football, Fabio Paratici who is determined to sign all players necessary to bolster Antonio Conte’s ‘revolution’ at Tottenham Hotspur
Bastoni is a star player for the Coppa Italia champions and is unanimously considered indispensable at Inter. He is a fan-favourite at San Siro and viewed as a future captain by many.
However, a report in Corriere dello Sport (h/t The Express) suggests that Inter are considering Feyernood’s Marcos Senesi, should they sell Bastoni for a fee they find too good to refuse. This augurs well for Spurs who are keen to add the Italian to their roster.
While Bastoni is aware and appreciative of Spurs’ interest, the defender would prefer to stay at San Siro next season until he is forced out. Bastoni’s agent Tullio Tinti also recently gave Tottenham something to cheer about.
Inter are also considering Torino’s Gleison Bremer, which indicates that the Italian giants could land two central defenders should they sell Bastoni.
The prevailing mood amongst Inter fans is very negative at the moment, with many of them furious and demanding for the club’s Chinese owners Suning to sell up if they cannot retain their star players.
Inter have been struggling financially for a while. They conceded Achraf Hakimi and Romelu Lukaku to big-money deals last summer, in order to balance their books. A weird sense of ‘Deja Vu’ prevails amongst the Nerazzurri faithful at the moment.
The asking price for Bastoni is £54m, a considerable amount of money. It however seems apt given that the Italian could develop into a world-class talent.
Such chaos could prove to be the perfect harmony for Paratici and Spurs, who know everything about the situation Inter are in. Whether Tottenham can make them an offer they cannot refuse remains to be seen.
