Manchester United reject Tottenham Hotspur overtures for Marcus Rashford
According to The Times (subscription required), Manchester United have turned down an approach from Tottenham Hotspur for Marcus Rashford.
The North London club had reportedly held discussions with the United forward’s camp, as previously suggested by the Express. The out-of-form England international had been linked with a move away, but now looks set to remain at Old Trafford.
Rashford is keen on staying put and impressing new boss Erik Ten Haag. After having rejected Tottenham’s approach for their No. 10, United are now set to hold talks with their coveted forward over a new deal.
This update virtually closes any probability of the Mancunian making the switch to North London. However, Spurs have other targets lined up.
Renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano had confirmed on Spurs fan Chris Cowlin’s YouTube channel that Tottenham are exploring the possibility of Gabriel Jesus. They are also working to make Dejan Kulusevski’s loan deal permanent.
Even if Spurs only manage to accomplish the latter, Conte will have an extraordinary front three of Kulusevski, Harry Kane and Heung-min Son to work with.
Moreover, it is the Tottenham defence and midfield which require more attention – so maybe those at Hotspur Way are better off concentrating on targets other than Rashford.
Spurs suffered a fresh blow in their pursuit of Alessandro Bastoni, with the Italian’s agent confirming that his client will stay at Inter Milan next season.

That leaves RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol and Villareal’s Pau Torres as the only two other defensive options that Spurs have in mind currently. A swap deal for Torres involving club-record signing Giovani Lo Celso moving the other way to Spain is also being considered.
So far, the club has confirmed the free transfers of Ivan Perisic and goalkeeper Fraser Forster, but expect many more names to arrive in North London in the coming few weeks. However, any of those names aren’t likely to be Rashford.
