Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur receive Bayern Munich enquiry for Harry Kane
According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla (h/t the Express), Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich have made a surprising enquiry for Tottenham Hotspur and England striker Harry Kane.
The Spurs talisman is eyed as the perfect replacement for Robert Lewandowski, who has been pushing for a move to Barcelona in recent weeks. At 33, the Poland international is perhaps looking for a new challenge.
Kane pushed for a transfer to Manchester City last summer but eventually agreed to stay provided that Spurs fulfil his ambition of regularly challenging for silverware. And that was only natural for a player of his calibre.
Since then, the club have appointed Fabio Paratici as DOF and Antonio Conte as the club head coach and needless to say, both have transformed the culture at the club.
What should Spurs do?
Following a disappointing start to last season, Conte’s appointment sparked a turnaround and the North London club ended up qualifying for the Champions League.
The process has also been aided by the acquisition of top players like Dejan Kulusevski on loan and recently Ivan Perisic on a free transfer.
Spurs are also in the market targeting several top names like Inter’s Alessandro Bastoni and Lautaro Martinez, RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol and Villarreal’s Pau Torres.
Such ambition hopefully plays a role to help change the mind of Kane, who seems more relaxed this summer and the Spurs board would not be expecting a repeat of last year’s chaos.
A player of Harry Kane’s calibre will always draw interest, no matter what. It comes as no surprise that Bayern Munich view him as a like-for-like replacement for Lewandowski.
But it is also no secret that Daniel Levy views Kane as the jewel of this Spurs team, with Manchester City apparently willing to pay €150million as recently as last summer for him. If he ever considers selling him, it wouldn’t be for cheap and it remains to be seen if the Bavarians are up for paying such fees.

They have recently offered Liverpool only a £30million package for a player of Sadio Mane’s calibre, which got rejected, so it is highly unlikely that they will consider breaking the bank for Kane or for that matter, any player.
