Tottenham Hotspur target Dodo as focus shifts from Djed Spence
According to Spanish outlet AS Sport (h/t Nottinghamshire Live), Tottenham Hotspur are now interested in Shakhtar Donetsk full-back Domilson Cordeiro dos Santos, better known as Dodo.
The 23-year-old Brazilian has drawn the attention of several of Europe’s top clubs – including Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
Spurs are now reportedly interested in Dodo, which shifts their focus from another rumoured target, Djed Spence. The Middlesbrough starlet spent last season on loan at Nottingham Forest, helping the club to their first Premier League promotion in 23 years.
It comes as no surprise that Forest want to make his loan deal permanent, but Spence’s parent club Middlesbrough expect a £16 million fee to let go of their rising star.
Spence is a natural wingback, which to no surprise has caught Conte’s attention.
Emerson Royal’s struggles in adapting to that role, forcing Spurs to look for a natural wingback in the market, and Spence fits that profile.
Why are Spurs shifting focus?
It seems like Tottenham are looking elsewhere and appears to be after someone who has more experience in the top flight. It makes sense given that bringing in a right-back who suits our system is a necessity.
Dodo played in the Champions League last season and was involved in Shakhtar’s Group of Death campaign featuring Real Madrid, Inter Milan, and newcomers Sheriff Tiraspol.

While the Ukrainian side didn’t qualify for the knockout stages, Dodo had impressed in games against Inter and Madrid, which naturally drew Los Blancos’ attention.
Whether Tottenham will launch a formal offer for the Brazilian or not remains to be seen in the coming few weeks.
