Tottenham Hotspur handed transfer boost as Inter Milan reject PSG bid for Milan Skriniar
According to the Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport [Print Edition] via Football Italia (h/t Football.London), Tottenham Hotspur have been given a boost in their pursuit of Milan Skriniar as Inter Milan have rejected a transfer bid from PSG for his services. He has been subjected to a tussle between some of the top European sides ahead of the next season.
Tottenham have already expressed their interest in signing Skriniar as they look to reunite him with Antonio Conte. However, they would also face competition from Chelsea, but now Paris Saint-Germain have stepped up their pursuit, having made an official offer for the defender.
However, Inter have quickly turned down that proposal that was worth £42.7million in transfer fees. They have responded by revealing the price tag of £59.8million for the Slovakian’s signature, with the French side expected to return with an improved bid in the future.
Spurs should stop pursuit!
It is in our best interest if we end our interest in the 27-year-old at his point. After all, it is unreasonable to pay that kind of amount for someone who will enter the final year of his current contract this summer. As such, Spurs must reconsider their stance and look elsewhere if they have plans to bring in a centre-back to back Conte.
No one can question the immense defensive skills that Skriniar possesses, and his leadership presence has played a major part in the Nerazzurri‘s rise in recent years. Even with that, it is not feasible to pay the asking price set by Simone Inzaghi’s side at this moment.
We could use defensive reinforcements this summer even with the improvements Conte has made in the squad. We have a long way to go before becoming solid like the boss’ previous teams, and Skriniar would undoubtedly have played a major role in helping our case.
But stopping our pursuit in Skriniar would not be a lost cause as we have several other targets on the shortlist as well. Centre-back is not the only area that must be strengthened this summer which means that we must remain wise and manage our budget better to uplift the squad as a whole.

Villarreal’s Pau Torres, Marc Guehi of Crystal Palace, Gleison Bremer from Torino and Barcelona ace Clement Lenglet are some of our other options. Dynamo Kyiv’s Ilya Zabarnyi and AS Roma’s Roger Ibanez are some of the left-field choices, which means that we have leeway to work with this summer.
