Everton star Richarlison rejects Arsenal transfer amidst Tottenham Hotspur interest
According to the Brazilian media outlet UOL via Sport Witness (h/t Football.London), Everton star Richarlison has rebuffed the approach from Arsenal to sign him amidst interest from Tottenham Hotspur for a potential transfer. He is set to leave his side this summer in search of a fresh challenge moving forward.
The Brazilian ace has two years left in his current contract, but it seems that he has decided to leave Goodison Park this summer. Tottenham have already expressed their interest in the forward, and the Gunners were also in the mix. That being said, Richarlison has rejected the latter, which is a massive boost for Antonio Conte’s side.
The 25-year-old is concerned about being “forgotten” at Emirates, which has prompted him to take this stance. Spurs are currently leading the race to secure his signature, and this latest update would further increase their chances of facilitating a move ahead of the next season.
Can Spurs take advantage?
Now that we are going to play a part in the Champions League in the upcoming campaign, there is a desperate need to plug the holes that exist in our ranks. The centre-forward is one such position, with Harry Kane lacking someone who can back the talisman when required.
We often suffered when Kane was rested or taken out of the lineup last season, but that must not take place moving forward. As such, completing a move for Richarlison would greatly solve that issue, plus his versatility to play on both wings could help him play a larger part under Conte.
Now that Mikel Arteta’s side is no longer in the fray and us being favourites to finalising a move for Richarlison, a transfer could seriously be on the cards. Then again, he has also been linked with Chelsea, so it would be wise to keep an eye out for them especially considering their struggles in the forward department.
However, it is interesting to note that the South American is not a priority for us right now, which could perhaps be down to his current valuation of £45million. That is quite expensive for someone who would play a backup for Kane, although it remains to be seen if we would actively pursue Richarlison with Fabio Paratici being an admirer.

It is claimed that there are plans to offer Harry Winks and Lucas Moura in a deal for Richarlison, which could drive down the asking price. Frank Lampard’s side have shown an interest in Winks, so it will be interesting to see if they would accept such a proposal or not.
Should that happen, perhaps signing Richarlison can be quite useful after all. Moura’s exit, coupled with Steven Bergwijn’s intention to leave N17, could free up further spots for the Toffees superstar to earn more minutes under his belt.
