Transfer News: Udinese reject Tottenham Hotspur proposal for Destiny Udogie
According to the Italian source Tuttosport [Print Edition] (h/t The Sun), Udinese have turned down the offer from Tottenham Hotspur to facilitate a transfer for Destiny Udogie this summer. He had enjoyed a great season with his side last campaign, which has seen him get on the radar of some of the top European clubs.
Tottenham are one of those who have become alerted to the upcoming talent Udogie and have shown an interest in signing him. They have even tabled a bid for his services, but that offer has been rejected by the Serie A side. Juventus are also in a similar boat, having seen their proposal rebuffed as well.
I Friulani have complete control over the Italian youngster’s future, having tied him down for four more years. He is currently rated at around £14.6million, although it is unknown whether his team are willing to part ways ahead of the upcoming season.
Who is Destiny Udogie?
Primarily a left wing-back in trade, the 19-year-old is more than capable enough to put in a shift as a left-back when necessary. Udogie was a key starter for his side in Serie A last season, having made 35 appearances scoring five goals and assisting thrice in the process.
The Serie A prospect is quite aggressive, having shown bite and grit to take on opponents and impose his dominance on them. That being said, his ability to remain composed and be a creative outlet on the ball has made him one of the best upcoming talented individuals in Italy right now.
Then again, it is quite puzzling to see us targeting the Udinese ace at this moment, considering how we just signed Ivan Perisic, who plays in a similar position. Moreover, we also have Ryan Sessegnon and Sergio Reguilon in that role, although there are plans to sell Reguilon this summer.
Perhaps with Steven Bergwijn wanting to leave in search of minutes this summer, Perisic could be moved to the left-wing, which, in turn, would free up a spot in the left wing-back role. If that is the case, then perhaps our pursuit of Udogie would make sense, although we have obstacles to overcome as of now.

There is a concern that Udinese may just decide to keep hold of Udogie as they could look to increase his market value before selling him in the future. Furthermore, questions can also be raised about whether he would be interested in leaving when he is a regular starter right now, which may not be the case at N17.
Fortunately for us, Juve have also been rejected, although they are desperate for someone who can play in that position. Whether their need would play a significant role in this race or not would only be known in due time.
