Tottenham Hotspur could offload Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Harry Winks this summer
According to Daily Hotspur on Twitter via Football.London, Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing to part ways with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Harry Winks.
It is believed that both Hojbjerg and Winks have attracted interest from top clubs across the Premier League and Europe, which might be a boost to Tottenham’s intention as they are preparing to move on both first-team stars.
Last season, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg may have attracted divided opinion among Tottenham fans, but he has continued to demonstrate on and off the pitch why Antonio Conte holds him in such high regard.
Only Harry Kane (4250) played more minutes for Tottenham last season than Hojbjerg (3,986), with both players featuring in 50 games for the club. Ben Davies was the only player used by Conte more than Hojbjerg across all competitions in a hectic season, with 51 appearances.
The 26-year-old began the season brilliantly under Nuno Espirito Santo, saw a dip in form in the middle of the season, but concluded the season strongly with Rodrigo Bentancur, with some critical performances in key games, and the midfielder has starred this week for Denmark on international duty.
Hence, it could turn into a horrible decision to part ways with Hojbjerg so soon. He is enjoying his peak years and Tottenham should take advantage of the brilliant qualities of the Dane. It would be a shame to see him depart if the news is true.
Since Antonio Conte’s arrival, Winks, 26, has been moved down the pecking order. Rodrigo Bentancur has become the favoured choice of Antonio Conte. Spurs have now completed the signing of Brighton’s Yves Bissouma.
If he continues at Tottenham, the Englishman will have a difficult time finding minutes. As a result, Winks must depart. He has to find a club where he can play on a regular basis if he is to have any chance of making England’s World Cup team in 2022.
According to reports this week, Patrick Vieira wants to take him to Selhurst Park and Everton are also interested in him.
