Tottenham Hotspur dealt blow as Inter star Milan Skriniar agrees to personal terms with PSG
According to transfer journalist Nicolo Schira on Twitter (h/t Football.London), Tottenham Hotspur have received a blow in their pursuit of Inter star Milan Skriniar as he has agreed to personal terms with PSG. He was linked with a move to N17, but it seems like he is growing closer to moving to France this summer.
Tottenham are plotting to bring in defensive reinforcements to improve their options in the backline. Skriniar was one of their choices, but it looks like he is no longer available, having reached an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain in a move to join them ahead of the next season.
The Slovakian international is set to earn a fee in the region of £125,00-per-week in the French capital after joining the Ligue 1 champions. That being said, they are yet to find common ground with Inter Milan, who wants to earn an amount of £60million for his services.
Time to look at other targets
The 27-year-old would have massively boosted our defensive setup with his leadership ability to command a backline while also making an impact with his quality. Moreover, his experience of working under Antonio Conte would have helped him to seamlessly adapt to our system.
Furthermore, Skriniar would have instantly slotted into our team, considering how Ben Davies had to deputise as a central defender due to a lack of reliable options last season. Davies is not a natural centre-half which would have given the Nerazzurri ace a clear path to the starting lineup.
Joe Rodon, for example, has been linked with a move to AS Roma after struggling to earn minutes under Conte. Japhet Tanganga has not always been reliable, while Davinson Sanchez is best utilised as a squad player rather than a regular starter for us.

That being said, we now have to deal with this setback and prepare for life without Skriniar moving forward. Fortunately, it seems that Fabio Paratici seems to have already taken certain actions in response to our blow regarding this pursuit.
That is because it is stated that we have already started talks to discuss the possibility of signing RB Leipzig star Josko Gvardiol this summer. He is a great alternative indeed, with Alessandro Bastoni also being tipped to become a potential target for us.
