Everton are interested in Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Joe Rodon
According to Alex Crook on talkSPORT (h/t football.london), Everton are interested in signing Tottenham centre-back Joe Rodon this transfer window. The Welsh defender is said to be on Frank Lampard’s wishlist.
Speaking about Daniel Levy and Bill Kenwright being spotted having dinner in London, Crook talks about the Toffees manager being keen on Harry Winks and Rodon.
“We know for his part Frank Lampard is quite keen on at least one Tottenham player in Harry Winks, maybe two, as I’m told Joe Rodon is also on Lampard’s shortlist this summer, so there could be some kind of swap deal.”
Rodon should stay another season at Spurs
Next season will be a big one at the N17 as Tottenham will look to go all guns blazing, challenging for titles under Antonio Conte. The season is potentially going to be long with European football to look forward to.
Spurs have a great chance of winning a title next season and every player in the squad counts. Players like Cristian Romero, Eric Dier, Davinson Sanchez, Ben Davies and other possible additions this summer will probably be ahead in the pecking order, but Rodon could still get game time.
The 24-year-old Welsh defender could get his chances in the domestic cup competitions, as he did last season. Going deep into the competitions congests the fixture list at a critical stage of the season.
The initial stages of both the FA and Carabao Cups can take a toll on a depleted squad. We need to ensure we have enough players in the team to come in and ensure fatigue doesn’t set in by the mid-point of the season, which could affect hopes of silverware.
While Rodon was relegated to a mere 10 appearances last season, it is essential to remember that the season is long. Injuries and other unprecedented issues need to be taken into account.

With this in mind, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to keep the 24-year-old around for next season. It’s better to be safe than sorry. And if the N17 wants to see a trophy being lifted by the end of the upcoming season, we’ll need to count on every man available.
