Tottenham Hotspur considering Bosman move for Jesse Lingard
Tottenham Hotspur are considering a move for Jesse Lingard, according to The Telegraph (Subscription Required). The 29-year-old midfielder is a free agent after leaving Manchester United this summer and Spurs are considering a move for him.
The North London side see the Englishman as a homegrown option for the middle of the park. Tottenham were also keen on bringing Lingard in January and the North London club will now try again to entice the 29-year-old, rivalling West Ham.
In his time at Old-Trafford, Lingard has played various positions, including on the left and right of the attack, as well as an attacking midfielder.
The Englishman was sent out on loan to various sides at the beginning of his career at United. In the 2015/16 season, the midfielder became a regular part of the Red Devils. The 29-year-old went on to feature 232 times for the Manchester side.
In recent seasons he saw his influence wane at Old Trafford and wasn’t given many minutes. His best spell came on loan at West Ham in the second half of the 2020/21 season, where he scored nine and assisted five goals.
Lingard would add depth at Spurs
Tottenham have strengthened their squad this season with additions this January and the ones made up until now this summer.
Lingard ran out his contract at his boyhood club this summer. The midfielder saw his minutes dwindle in the last couple of seasons.
At Spurs, Antonio Conte has many attacking options to choose from. Harry Kane and Son Heung-min, alongside Dejan Kulusevski, have seen a lot of action under our Italian manager. Richarlison and Ivan Perisic have also signed for the club this transfer window.
The Hammers are also interested in the former Red Devil, and Lingard has already had a fruitful spell with West Ham on loan previously.
