Antonio Conte saw a lot of positives with Richarlison as Tottenham Hotspur beat K-League XI
Antonio Conte was happy as Tottenham Hotspur beat K-League XI. When asked about Richarlison, the Italian said that he saw a lot of positives in the Brazilian’s play, via football.london.
Spurs beat the best players the South Korean league has on offer in an enthralling match that saw the North London side score six past the hosts. Eric Dier’s thumping shot opened the scoring. Harry Kane and Son Heung-min chipped in with braces.
Richarlison was one of the game’s bright spots as he played 76 minutes before being replaced by Troy Parrott. The Brazilian played through the middle in the first half and then on the right. And Conte feels the 25-year-old can play various positions up front.
“Today I’ve seen a lot of positive things about Richy. The first half he played like a number nine and the second half he played on the right, behind the striker. I think he can play in all these three positions.”
The personality and character of Richarlison are especially praiseworthy. Conte is still working with the Brazilian to inculcate his ideas and style of play into the player. The gaffer is also making sure the 25-year-old is physically fit.
Richarlison arrived from Everton for big money this summer and provides the side with an extra option in the attack. The most important asset is the Brazilian’s ability to play down the middle. It’ll give the gaffer a chance to rest Harry Kane when need be.
The 25-year-old’s versatility ensures more opportunities in the first XI. Conte commended Richarlison’s ability on the ball and the tenacity to to hold onto it. The Brazilian is also adept at attacking spaces. Conte is thrilled with the new signing.
“He’s a player that is a good player, strong and very good to protect the ball and attack the space. Also he made a good assist, I’m very happy that we signed him.”
Tottenham have decent attacking options for next season in the forward positions. Kane is the talisman of our side, along with Son Heung-min. The duo have quite the partnership in terms of goals and assists.
Dejan Kulusevski was signed in January. The Swedish national didn’t take long to settle in the Premier League. Ivan Perisic has also been signed. The Croatian can play on the wings. Lucas Moura is another player at Conte’s disposal.
