Tottenham Hotspur players Yves Bissouma and Fraser Forster test positive for COVID
Tottenham Hotspur duo Yves Bissouma and Fraser Forster tested positive for COVID, as per Evening Standard, and missed the opening game of the pre-season tour in South Korea.
The pair were unable to feature for the North London side and make their debuts against K-League XI. They are in isolation and away from the squad.
Tottenham defeated the Korean side in a thumping win, scoring six goals. After the game, Antonio Conte gave the update on Bissouma and Forster and said they had tested positive.
It’s a blow to the plans set for the side. Pre-season is meant to have players ready for the intense season up ahead. Instead, these breaks in preparation lead to a delay in the team getting ready for the campaign.
Our new additions will especially feel hard done by. The tour in South Korea is meant to gel the squad and improve team chemistry apart from getting the players fit for what will be a successful 2022/23 campaign ahead of them.
It’s a setback for Bissouma and Forster, especially the Malian. The 25-year-old has been one of the best holding midfielders in English football over the last couple of years. Fans will hope the former Brighton star can play a significant role in the upcoming campaign.
On the other hand, the squad’s backup goalkeeper won’t be expected to feature much, but having a solid number two for Hugo Lloris is vital. Our captain needs as much rest as he can get in a long season.

COVID can also pose a threat during the season. With Tottenham rearing to challenge for titles, we need luck on our side to keep our players fit. Fans will hope such minor setbacks aren’t a sign of things to come.
