Juventus fail to reach agreement for Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Nicolo Zaniolo
According to journalist Jack Gallagher of 90min (h/t Football.London), Juventus have failed to reach an agreement for signing AS Roma star Nicolo Zaniolo, who is also on Tottenham Hotspur’s radar.
The Italian playmaker is linked with a move away from the Stadio Olimpico this summer and Spurs present themselves as a potential destination. However, ex-Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho is hopeful of keeping the player.
Apparently, the Lilywhites are in contact with I Giallorossi over a move for the 23-year-old star. If we do manage to get him, Zaniolo could make for a fine addition to this team.
Spurs have already failed to sign Christian Eriksen and if a deal for Zaniolo goes over the line, the 23-year-old playmaker could become a vital asset for his compatriot, Antonio Conte.
Juve offered Arthur Melo in a swap deal for the Massa-born sensation but failed to reach an agreement for a transfer. With the Old Lady out of the way, this could be Spurs’ time to shine.
However, it remains to be seen what potential plans our club would have for the Roma man. He is an attacking playmaker but has largely played down the right flank in recent times.
Spurs aren’t really short of wingers or attackers, especially after the additions of Dejan Kulusevski, Richarlison, and Ivan Perisic this year. It would be understandable if Zaniolo wants regular playing time at his age.
He is no longer a youth prospect and is blossoming into one of Serie A’s finest forwards. The former Inter Milan was a vital part of Mourinho’s UEFA Europa Conference League success last season.
