Transfer News: Inter Milan raise price tag for Tottenham Hotspur target Milan Skriniar

According to transfer news on Sky Italy via Football Italia (h/t the Express), Inter Milan have slapped a massive price tag on Tottenham Hotspur target Milan Skriniar.

The 27-year-old centre-back is in the last year of his contract and he could become a free agent next summer. However, I Nerazzurri apparently have a verbal agreement in place with the Slovakian international for an extension.

He is seen as an important part of Simone Inzaghi’s backline that would aim to win the Scudetto once again next season. They missed out on defending their title during the last campaign, with AC Milan being crowned champions.

They have now put a price tag of £68million on Skriniar in order to fend off potential suitors. That is a big fee to pay for any player, even if it is a world-class defender such as Skriniar.

Out of our reach?

Since moving to Inter from Sampdoria in 2017, he has been a rock at the back for the 2010 UEFA Champions League winners. He is the kind of experienced defender that could take Spurs to the next level.

At 27, he still has a lot of years left at the top. But understandably, Inter want to keep one of their star men for the upcoming season.

They have also re-signed Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea on a loan spell, showing how serious they are about getting back to the pinnacle of Italian and European football once again.

For Spurs, it seems better to play the waiting game. If not that, then it is better to move their focus towards other targets that would be comparatively easier and/or cheaper to land.
