Tottenham star Eric Dier gives verdict on Bayern Munich manager’s comments on Harry Kane
Julian Nagelsmann seemed to ruffle a few feathers at Tottenham Hotspur with his recent comments on Harry Kane. The English striker is one of the best goal-scorers in world football right now.
Bayern recently lost Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona and it is clear that they have a big void to fill in attack. Links to Kane, in that regard, make sense considering Kane is a striker who, if not above, is arguably at the same level as Lewandowski.
Nagelsmann was quoted as saying (h/t Daily Star):
“He could score a lot in the Bundesliga, I don’t know the price, but it’s really tough for Bayern Munich. We’ll see what happens in the future.”
This led to Conte claiming that the former RB Leipzig and TSG Hoffenheim boss was ‘disrespectful’ with his comments. But Eric Dier doesn’t think it’s such a big deal.
The English defender told Sky Sports (h/t the Express) that it is normal for big teams to talk about the 28-year-old striker given his quality.
“That’s normal. Every world class player is always going to be spoken about a lot. I don’t really care. In football you don’t know what’s going to happen tomorrow let alone next week so it’s not something I’m bothered about, it’s normal that world class players are spoken about.”
Perhaps this was a response Conte should have given as well. Although, it is also understandable why the Italian manager would be annoyed that his star player was being talked about in this way.
It remains to be seen what Kane’s thoughts are on this matter. Bayern virtually guarantees a domestic trophy each season in Germany – at least in recent years- while Kane is yet to win anything at N17.
