Tottenham Hotspur set aside up to £60m for ‘luxury singing’ this summer
Tottenham Hotspur are apparently setting aside a big amount to make a ‘luxury signing’ during the current transfer window.
This is according to Dean Jones, who made the claim while speaking to This is Futbol (h/t Football.London). The transfer expert said:
“It’s luxury signings that they’re now looking at. Having £60m for a luxury signing is a lot of money, and is going to be somebody that’s going to expect to be part of your side, week in week out.”
Such a statement would naturally excite Spurs fans, who have already seen six new faces walk through the doors at Hotspur Way this summer. It remains to be seen which players Antonio Conte has in mind with regards to signing them at Spurs.
Where can Spurs strengthen?
The club brought in Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster on free transfers. Yves Bissouma, Richarlison, and Djed Spence are also on Tottenham’s books from this month while Clement Lenglet sealed a season-long deal from Barcelona.
Given the amount in question, Spurs can choose to bring in a big-name, world-class player to strengthen the side. Currently, our attack seems sorted with Son Heung-min, Dejan Kulusevski, Harry Kane, and Richarlison all in our squad.
Conte has already signed Bissouma and Rodrigo Bentancur in midfield this year while Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg remains untouchable in central midfield. There is no shortage of full-backs either, although a world-class signing on the flanks can still make sense.
The Italian manager, after all, utilises the full-backs to a great extent in his system. Central defender is perhaps an area where Spurs can look to strengthen to a great extent.

Conte seems unconvinced by his current options at the club, which is why the club have been linked with the likes of Milan Skriniar and Alessandro Baston earlier this summer. It remains to be seen if those at Spurs share the same opinion and view the backline as an area that can use an upgrade.
