Antonio Conte insists he is happy at Tottenham and the contract talks can wait
Speaking in an interview as quoted by Football. London, Tottenham boss Antonio Conte insisted that he is very happy at Spurs and is not too bothered about the fact that his contract ends with the current season.
Conte signed for Spurs midway last season in a contract that lasted till 2023, with an option to extend for a further year if both parties agree. Ever since the Italian arrived at the N17, things have started looking brighter.
The Italian tactician had an immediate impact upon his arrival in North London, steering the Lilywhites to a dramatic top-4 finish on the final day of the 2021/22 Premier League season. It was a massive achievement given how rudderless we looked when he took over.
The signings that he made in January in Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur turned out to be master strokes, with the former especially playing a key role in securing top-4 for Tottenham.
Speaking about the fact that his contract expired in a year, Conte insisted that a contract has never mattered to him and that he is happy here at the N-17.
“I have to be honest. In my career the contract was never important. I didn’t need to sign contracts for one, two or three years. I’m happy. We’re working really well together. “
“There will be zero problems to continue my life in Tottenham because I stay well and I like this group of players and I have a good relationship with Paratici and with Daniel Levy.”
Tottenham are already building towards next season under Antonio Conte with Levy showing a lot of trust in the Italian manager and getting him the players he wants in the transfer window.
The Lilywhites have signed Ivan Perisic, Richarlison, Yves Bissouma, Clement Lenglet and Djed Spence amongst others and they could still be looking at other players until the window closes.
Antonio Conte will be expected to build on last season and put in impressive performances this time around, with the Lilywhites expected to challenge for trophies at least this season and end their drought.
