Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur linked with a move for Ajax star Mohammed Kudus
According to GhanaWeb (h/t Evening Standard), Tottenham Hotspur are keeping an eye on Ajax Amsterdam midfielder, Mohammed Kudus.
He moved to Ajax from Nordsjaelland in the summer of 2020 and has since become an important part of their first-team set-up. He has experience of playing under current Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag.
But it is Spurs who are linked with a move for him this summer. The Lilywhites are apparently tracking the 22-year-old midfielder, who scored in Ajax’s season opener against PSV Eindhoven in a 5-3 loss.
He can play in central midfield as well as an attacking midfielder. The Ghana international is already a big part of his national team’s set-up and is on his way to becoming a household name in Africa – if he isn’t one already.
Kudus to Spurs?
Spurs would be wise to formalise any interest they may have in the midfielder as early as they can. If he continues to rise at this trajectory, his valuation could skyrocket in the future.
He currently has three years left on his current contract at Ajax. It remains to be seen what role he is handed under Alfred Schreuder but given his age and talent, one can expect him to be a regular in the first team.
But it is clear that if signed at Spurs, there is very little chance that he will get into our starting XI initially. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg continues to be untouchable while Antonio Conte has signed Yves Bissouma and Rodrigo Bentancur this year.

Nevertheless, it is never a bad thing to plan for the future. It remains to be seen if Tottenham’s apparent interest turns into a potential offer later this month.
