Transfer News: Inter Milan still consider Tottenham Hotspur target Milan Skriniar sellable
Inter Milan chairman Steven Zhang considers Tottenham Hotspur target Milan Skriniar a sellable asset this summer, according to French outlet Foot Mercato (h/t the Express).
The Lilywhites have been linked with a move for the 27-year-old this summer. However, nothing has materialised so far and the player is primed to feature for his team in their Serie A opener against Lecce on August 13.
But just when it looked like a deal for the Slovakia international was dead in the water, an update claims that Inter could sell £59m-rated Skriniar to balance their books.
They are prepared to offload him and are already preparing in case the defender leaves, with the likes of OGC Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo, Borussia Dortmund’s Manuel Akanji, Atalanta star Merih Demiral and Fiorentina’s Nikola Milenkovic touted as potential replacements.
Hope for Spurs
Chelsea are also said to be in the race for the former Sampdoria man. Skriniar has made himself into one of the best defenders in Italy and was a major part of Antonio Conte’s 2020/21 Serie A-winning Inter side.
Perhaps, the Italian manager wants to recreate that magic at N17. Spurs have signed their fair share of players this summer but no centre-back has arrived with a long-term picture in mind.
Clement Lenglet’s season-long loan from Barcelona is what fans would call a temporary solution before the club looks for a top defender to lead their backline. Skriniar really would be the icing on top of a nearly perfect summer transfer window for us.

It is hard to compete for big trophies with a real leader at the back. Cristian Romero could be that man in the future but he still has to get some experience under his belt at the very top level.
Skriniar has what it takes to become for us what Virgil van Dijk and Ruben Dias are for Liverpool and Manchester City respectively.
