Tottenham banish Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso, Sergio Reguilon and Harry Winks from first-team training

Tottenham Hotspur are making Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso, Sergio Reguilon and Harry Winks train away from the first team, as the club looks for buyers before the end of the transfer window.

According to the Evening Standard, the quartet is no longer required at Spurs by Antonio Conte and the club is eager to offload them at the earliest. Tanguy Ndombele has interest from Villarreal and Newcastle United but the latter seem unconvinced over a potential deal.

Reguilon has interest from Brighton & Hove Albion after they lost Marc Cucurella to Chelsea. The Spanish full-back has fallen down the pecking order at N17 after the arrival of Ivan Perisic on a free transfer.

Winks, meanwhile, is on the radar of Valencia while Lo Celso continues to be linked with the Yellow Submarines as well as Serie A side Fiorentina. Spurs are yet to receive a bid for him.

What are Spurs doing?

After the arrivals of Yves Bissouma and Rodrigo Bentancur in the past year, Conte’s view on his current options in midfield has been clear. Apart from Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, no player has had the Italian manager’s continuous trust.

Letting three central midfielders leave the club with the season already having started could cause anxiety amongst some fans. A couple of injuries in the middle of the park could really jeopardise our season.

Oliver Skipp’s injury in training earlier this month serves as a reminder that no player is immune to fitness problems and fatigue. Spurs played out a 4-1 win against Southampton last weekend where Bentancur and Hojbjerg started in midfield.

However, apart from Bissouma, the club had no natural central midfielders on the bench. For a club wanting to win its first silverware for the first time since 2008, we cannot afford to go into September without the necessary depth.

Conte would be wise to either keep one of Lo Celso and Winks at the club, or get in a new face in the coming weeks.
