Tottenham Hotspur will be without two stars as they visit Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea in the second game of the new Premier League season. Antonio Conte has confirmed that Clement Lenglet and Oliver Skipp will miss the game against Chelsea.

In the opening game of the North London club’s PL campaign, Southampton stopped by the Tottenham Hotspur stadium. The Saints gave the Lilywhites an early scare. But in the end, Spurs managed to get the three points comfortably.

Tottenham’s next fixture is against the Blues. In the pre-match press conference (h/t football.london), Conte said Lenglet would miss the game. The Italian also gave an update on Skipp’s time on the sideline.

“About my injuries, a little problem with Clement Lenglet. I don’t think he is available for the game against Chelsea or for sure the next game against Wolverhampton (Wanderers). He had a little problem, and then Skipp needs a couple of weeks before being available. All the other players are good.”

The French defender made his way to North London on loan from Barcelona this summer. The side has been evidently crying out for a left-footed centre-back. Lenglet was the one Spurs have hung their hat on.

The first game of the 2022/23 campaign was an interesting one in the sense that Conte didn’t start any of the new signings. Instead, three of our summer additions got the chance to feature against Southampton in the closing minutes of the match.

Lenglet was one of the players who got a run out on the pitch. The 27-year-old got on the pitch in the 86th minute. There wasn’t much for the Frenchman to do.

Skipp is another player who is set to miss the game. The 21-year-old played a part during the pre-season. The academy youngster had a tough time last season with injuries.

Hopefully, the pair will get back to full fitness as soon as possible. The 2022/23 campaign is going to be a long one with the World Cup in Qatar set to commence in November. Every player is going to be important.
