Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur are considering a move for Leeds United’s Daniel James
Tottenham Hotspur are considering a surprise move for Daniel James this summer. According to the Daily Mail, Antonio Conte wants to bring in the winger to replace Bryan Gil.
Gil could head back to Valencia before the window closes and it seems that Conte could be open to replacing him. Spurs have had one of the best windows this summer, but it looks like there could be more to it.
Seven new signings have joined the club and James could become the eighth. Gil has struggled during his time at north London, failing to impress the coach and cement his place in the team.
James joined Leeds last summer from Manchester United. The Wales international was a hit and played a crucial part in helping his side avoid relegation. The 24-year-old netted four goals and got five assists in 31 league appearances for The Whites last season.
He has drawn interest from Spurs in the past too. But this time a move is likely to happen. Conte has revamped the squad completely as he prepares for his first full season in charge of the north London club. An electrifying winger, James would make a fine addition to this squad.
But he is a regular at Leeds, something that may not be possible here at Tottenham. The 24-year-old will have tough competition if he wants to play regularly. This is something which could potentially hamper any talk, especially with the World Cup in November.
Nevertheless, James is an ideal target to go after to replace the outgoing Gil. The player has Premier League experience and the lure of Champions League nights is always a bonus when a team is pursuing a player. Just 24, he could potentially play out his prime years at Tottenham.

Conte, meanwhile, will hope that his side continues their fine form. The club has got off to a very good start, winning two games and drawing one. Fans will hope that their side gets all three points when they face Nottingham Forest this Sunday.
