Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur have had a very fruitful transfer window this summer. Some fans may even argue that this is one the best windows in the club’s history. But they are yet to be tested.

Conte believes that he will know the true depth of his squad when the midweek fixtures start next week. Speaking ahead of Sunday’s game against Nottingham Forest, the Italian coach gave his opinion (h/t Evening Standard).

Today I was talking with Fabio Paratici about the difficulty [of the schedule]. To play one game every six or seven days is one thing. To play many games every three days is totally different. But this is the period where you understand which team and squad are good to be competitive.

Spurs will see a run of seven games in 23 days before the September international break. All six Champions League games also have been squeezed in to finish before the World Cup starts in mid-November.

Antonio Conte’s Tottenham play every mid-week till November.

This means that the north London club will play every mid-week till the season halts for the World Cup, starting from their Wednesday’s trip to West Ham United.

Conte has boosted his squad with six new signings. The club struggled last season when they had to play three games in a week. But that should not necessarily be the case again this season.

Also, the Premier League now allows five substitutions. This should benefit Conte, as he can rotate his players. Spurs have got off to a good start, winning seven points from a possible nine, and currently sit fourth on the table.

Spurs will be without Cristian Romero and Oliver Skipp, as the duo are out injured. The likes of Bryan Gil and Lucas Moura could also miss the game after sitting out training on Friday. It remains to be seen what team Conte chooses to start.

Clement Lenglet could start the next game in place of Romero. Davinson Sanchez did the previous game and was impressive. Fans will hope that Conte does not take the fixture lightly and starts a strong team against a tricky Forest side.
