Aston Villa interested in deadline day move for Tottenham Hotspur winger Lucas Moura
Tottenham Hotspur star Lucas Moura could be on his way out on deadline day with Aston Villa interested in the Brazilian, according to The Telegraph (h/t Express).
However, for a deal to fall into place for Steven Gerrard’s side, the moves of two other players are important. One of Hwang Hee-chan, who Leeds United are keen on. If the West Yorkshire side get the Wolverhampton Wanderers forward, they would be willing to let Daniel James go.
Spurs are interested in Leeds’ Welsh winger. The North London side have an eye on the former Manchester United forward. And if the 24-year-old successfully joins Antonio Conte’s squad, Moura may be allowed to leave.
The Brazilian already has a challenging task at hand at Tottenham. With the squad being strengthened in the summer with several quality signings, game time for the former Paris Saint-Germain star is not guaranteed.
Moura signed for Spurs in January 2018 from PSG. Since then, the Brazilian has been a key member of the North London side. However, the 2022/23 campaign has seen the 30-year-old stay on the bench.
Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski are vying for a place alongside Harry Kane and Son Heung-min in the front line. The four have shown their quality at the start of the new season.
Conte has opted to deploy Moura in the right-wing-back role. However, the Italian has several options for the positions as well. Emerson Royal has started all five games up until now. Matt Doherty and Djed Spence are also on the bench.

Moura has been a great servant for the club. But right now, Tottenham have a pretty decent squad under a world-class manager. With the World Cup around the corner, players evidently will want to play as much to be in contention for Qatar.
It remains to be seen whether Moura will be willing to part ways with Spurs and if Villa can get a deal over the line.
