Eric Dier is full of praise for his Tottenham Hotspur team-mate Rodrigo Bentancur
Tottenham Hotspur defender Eric Dier has lauded his team-mate Rodrigo Bentancur’s performance against Leicester City last Saturday.
Antonio Conte’s men ran riot in London when they defeated the Foxes 6-2, courtesy of a Heung-min Son hat-trick. But the Korean was not the only star of the show that day.
Bentancur scored the third goal for Spurs and his first for the club just two minutes into the second half. And now Dier, while speaking to SPURSPLAY, was full of praise for the midfielder.
“Rodri is amazing, what a fantastic player. I think we play well when he plays well, that’s the biggest compliment I can give him. When he plays like he did in the second half, we’re such a good team. He offers so much defensively, and then with the ball he has so much quality.”
The Uruguayan international started the game as usual with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in the middle of the park. Both the players were once again in command of the midfield and dictated the tempo of the play.
Leicester equalised twice in the first half, but it was the second that blew them away. Bentancur gave us the lead in the 47th minute to make it 3-2 and then even assisted Son for his first goal which made the scoreline 4-2.
Conte introduced Son in the 59th minute in place of Richarlison. The Korean, after going goalless in the last seven games in all competitions, tore apart the visitors with a 13-minute hattrick.
This win continued our unbeaten start to the league. Spurs sit comfortably in the third position one point behind leaders Arsenal and four points above fourth place Brighton & Hove Albion.
