Transfer News: Manchester City join Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign Milan Skriniar
Manchester City have joined the race to sign Inter Milan star Milan Skriniar amid interest from Tottenham Hotspur, reports the Daily Star.
The 27-year-old has been attracting interest from various parts of Europe. Mainly, due to the fact that the centre-back sees his current contract expire next summer at Inter Milan.
French side Paris Saint-Germain were also interested in the defender but failed in their approach to sign him this summer. Domestic rivals Chelsea are also in the fray for the centre-back.
Spurs revamped their squad completely this summer with Antonio Conte adding six new faces to his senior squad, with three of them being defenders.
Cristian Romero’s loan deal became permanent, while Djed Spence joined from Middlesbrough. Clement Lenglet was signed on a season-long loan from Barcelona, while Destiny Udogie has been sent back to Udinese on loan.
Conte uses a back-three and could do with an experienced centre-back in his squad. Japhet Tanganga is still young and relatively inexperienced.
Skriniar makes the perfect candidate for such an addition. Plus, the defender has already played under Conte at Inter, during the latter’s spell there. The 27-year-old will have little trouble fitting into his tactics.
