Alasdair Gold on Tottenham Hotspur offering Harry Kane a new contract amidst Bayern Munich links
In a QnA session on Football.London, journalist Alasdair Gold answered a fans’ question regarding Tottenham Hotspur’s stance on offering Harry Kane a new contract at the club.
Bayern Munich could make a move for Kane in 2023 after losing Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona this summer. Kane’s current deal expires in two years’ time.
Manager Antonio Conte has publicly claimed that he wants the 29-year-old striker to sign a new contract at the club. However, according to Gold, there is nothing underway regarding a new deal for the England international.
He was asked by a fan, “Are you aware of any ongoing discussions with Harry Kane about an extension?”, to which Gold replied:
“Nothing yet I’m afraid. Spurs haven’t kicked those off as of this point but surely it won’t be long.”
Kane is an integral part of this team. He is one of the most lethal goal-scorers in the history of the Premier League and has started this season off in great form as well.
Kane scored against Leicester City in a 6-2 win, in a game that was headlined by Son Heung-min’s hat-trick. Despite the club now having players like Son, Dejan Kulusevski, and Richarlison to depend on, Kane continues to be the main man up front.
He is the one starting down the middle and dropping deep to create chances, as well as getting inside the box to be at the end of crosses. Kane’s importance and value to our team cannot be narrowed down to numbers.

It is imperative that we keep him as it would be a statement that we mean business. Tottenham’s main goal has to be to finally win silverware rather than just being ‘nearly theres’, and for that, we must retain our best players – with Kane arguably being the best of the lot.
