Tottenham Transfer News: Journo reveals what will influence Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane stance in 2023
According to journalist Florian Plettenburg of Sky Sports Germany (h/t Football.London), the performance of Bayern Munich’s current attackers will influence the German club’s stance on signing Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane in 2023.
The England international has been linked with a move to the Bavarian giants recently. The 29-year-old is in the final two years of his contract at Spurs and manager Antonio Conte has already confessed that he wants Kane to stay at Spurs beyond 2024.
Bayern have apparently been in contact with the Englishman’s representatives over a potential move. Plettenburg said:
“I am totally convinced Harry Kane will become a very, very hot topic at Bayern Munich for the next transfer window. It depends on the strikers’ performance this year.”
“Bayern bosses have told them ‘let’s see what happens’. We have [Sadio] Mane, we have [Kingsley] Coman, [Leroy] Sane, [Serge] Gnabry and so on.”
Bayern saw Robert Lewandowski join Barcelona earlier this summer. The Poland international is one of the most lethal goal-scorers in the world and his absence is certainly being felt.
The German champions are failing to win games on a regular basis and despite scoring goals at a fairly impressive rate, are failing to consistently outscore their opponents on the day. They are 5th in the table, with 12 points from seven games.
Bayern, hence, have failed to score the winning goals in more than half their league games this season. Sadio Mane’s acquisition from Liverpool was thought to be a signing that can cushion some of the blow after Lewa’s departure.
However, the presence of a world-class out-and-out number nine like Kane can benefit Julian Nagelsmann’s Bayern side. Serge Gnabry, formerly a winger, has played at centre-forward for the German club and the national team for several years.

However, there isn’t a natural target man that can replace Lewandowski’s presence in the starting XI. It remains to be seen if they target Kane next year but it would be a surprise to see Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici let one of Conte’s star men leave prematurely.
