Spurs News: Why Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte has been in Turin amidst Juventus links
According to Italian outlet Il Bianconero (h/t Football.London), Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri is under pressure after a slow start to the season, and Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte is a potential candidate to replace him if he is sacked from the job.
Juve have amassed just 10 points from seven league games this season, winning only twice. They are also struggling in the UEFA Champions League, with no points from their opening two matchdays.
Conte, meanwhile, has steadied the ship at Spurs since replacing Portuguese manager Nuno Espirito Santo last year. He guided us to a top-four finish last season and currently, the Lilywhites sit third in the league table after seven games, level on points with Manchester City and just one behind league leaders Arsenal.
The former Inter Milan manager has been spotted in Turin recently which would naturally spark anxiety among Tottenham faithful. However, he is just ‘spending time‘ there before returning to London to head back for work.
No reason to worry
Hence, there doesn’t seem to be a lot of reason to worry for Spurs fans. Not that Spurs and Everton are level in recent times in terms of ambitions and results, but Carlo Ancelotti’s sudden return to Real Madrid last year shows that managers can jump at the chance to manage a club they want to and sacrifice their current project because of it.
Conte managed Juventus between 2011 and 2014. He won the Scudetto with the Old Lady but could only manage a quarter-final finish with them in 2013, which remains his best finish in the UCL to date.
His current deal at Spurs expires in the summer of 2023. That is also something that would worry Tottenham fans.

Hopefully, he is here for the long run. Conte made several signings this summer to make his mark on the team and this could be the season where fortunes change for the Lilywhites in terms of winning silverware.
