What Tottenham star Yves Bissouma said after meeting Manchester City and Barcelona legend Yaya Toure
Yves Bissouma signed for Tottenham Hotspur this summer in a move that saw him leave Brighton and Hove Albion after four years since joining from LOSC Lille Metropole.
Since then, he has featured in seven games across all competitions for manager Antonio Conte and would hope to become a regular fixture in the starting XI soon. Right now, Rodrigo Bentancur and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg seem to have a chokehold over that position.
Bissouma recently sat down with Manchester City and Barcelona legend Yaya Toure in an interview with SpursPlay. He was clearly in awe of the Ivory Coast legend and told him:
“When they ask me like ‘Which player you like, which player you think is the best in his position’, I say it’s you [Yaya Toure] because I’m a midfielder as well. I want to be like you one day. I know it’s not easy but I’m with you so you’re gonna give me some secrets.”
A great example to follow
It’s no easy task being like Toure. The 39-year-old is currently a coach in Tottenham’s youth set-up after a storied career that saw him play for teams like Barca, AS Monaco, and Man City.
Toure was a complete midfielder who could play as a number six as well as a number eight. His most productive season in terms of goals and assists was by far the 2013/14 campaign with the Cityzens.
He netted 24 goals and assisted 12 goals in 49 games for City across all competitions. He also won the Premier League title thrice and the UEFA Champions League with Barca in 2009.

Bissouma may be 26 years old already but it feels like the Mali international is just getting started at the big stage. With Yaya in the backroom staff to guide him, we can hope to see the ex-Brighton star take his game to the next level at N17.
