Matt Doherty points out what Antonio Conte has changed at Tottenham
Speaking in an interview as quoted by the Independent, Spurs defender Matt Doherty has pointed out the big shift in mentality that Antonio Conte has brought about to the Lilywhites in the past few months.
Doherty is out on national duty with the Republic of Ireland with his side set to take on Armenia and Scotland. The defender is returning from a long-term injury and would want to show Conte how fit he is.
It remains to be seen how many minutes Doherty plays in the upcoming Internationals. He is coming off an injury and there is a chance that they will cautious with him and how they manage his workload.
Doherty was a pretty crucial player for Antonio Conte last season until a medial collateral ligament injury ruled him out for the season. He is just making a recovery from a knee injury but has competition in the form of Emerson Royal, Djed Spence and Lucas Moura.
Speaking about Antonio Conte’s influence on the team, Matt Doherty was full of praise for the Italian tactician
“He’s changed the whole mentality of the whole club. He’s made us feel like winners. We know he’s obviously won a lot in the past and we’re kind of trying to do it. We absolutely love having him as our manager and are pretty fortunate that he is manager of the club.”
Spurs have had an exceptional start to the season under Antonio Conte. They are yet to lose a game in the Premier League and find themselves third in the table behind Arsenal and Manchester City.
The Lilywhites have a competitive squad right now with the signings that they have made this summer transfer window. This means that they have a competitive squad to challenge for trophies on all fronts.
