Tottenham Hotspur earmark Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak as Hugo Lloris replacement
According to the Evening Standard, Antonio Conte has spoken to Tottenham Hotspur sporting director Fabio Paratici over a long-term plan to succeed Hugo Lloris at N17.
The France international moved to Spurs in the summer of 2012 from Olympique Lyonnais and has since been the club’s number one choice between the sticks. However, at 35, he is nearing the end of his playing career.
He is expected to leave at the end of his current contract, which expires in the summer of 2024, and Spurs have finalised Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak as a long-term replacement for Lloris.
The Slovenia international (29) is six years younger than his French counterpart at Spurs. And while he is on a contract that has just under six years remaining, Los Colchoneros are open to letting him leave for the right offer.
A brilliant opportunity
There won’t be many better candidates to replace Lloris than Oblak. He moved to Atletico from SL Benfica in 2014 and in the years following that, has made himself one of the best goalkeepers in the world.
He is, however, yet to play for a club in England. Having won the La Liga title in Spain under manager Diego Simeone, perhaps a new venture could turn his head – although there is nothing to indicate how the player feels about a potential move away from Atletico.
Manchester United could also battle Spurs for Oblak’s signature as they have asked to be kept informed of the goalkeeper’s situation at the Wanda Metropolitano.

Spurs signed Fraser Forster this summer on a free transfer but the former Southampton is arguably not cut out from the same cloth as the world-class Oblak. This is a potential transfer that Spurs fans would be licking their lips over and hopefully, we can secure his signature in the upcoming windows.
