Speaking in the post-match after Tottenham’s 0-0 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League last night as quoted by Football. London, Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte has urged his team to be more clinical in front of goal after the stalemate against the German side.

The draw means that Spurs find themselves second in their Champions League group behind Sporting CP with one win, one draw and one loss in the three matches they have played in the competition so far.

Last night was a rather even encounter between the two teams, with both clubs having their fair share of chances but the attackers on both sides struggled to put away the chances in a clinical fashion.

Despite taking a number of shots, both teams had just two of them on target apiece which is a very paltry total. Spurs were marginally the better team on that day, but a lot was left lacking in their performance.

The Italian tactician said he was content with his side’s performance but wanted more from his side, especially in front of goal.

“I think the performance was good performance tonight. Then at the same time I didn’t think we risked a lot, taking big risks. We created chances to score, but if I have to find a situation that we need to improve on after this game for sure we need to be more clinical”

Despite making a truckload of signings in the summer to improve the squad, Spurs have had a rather mixed start to the season. Scintillating at some times whilst equally frustrating at others, it has not been all smooth sailing for Conte.

The Lilywhites were at least unbeaten in the Premier League until last weekend when the North London club saw themselves lose to derby rivals Arsenal 1-3, recording their first defeat of the season.

Spurs and Conte have Brighton up next on the horizon. The Seagulls are flying high in the Premier League after yet another solid start and even a manager change does not seem to stop their momentum.

Brighton will come in the weekend’s game full of confidence having drawn Liverpool 3-3 and Antonio Conte will have a job on his hands to motivate his team to beat the Seagulls and it remains to be seen how he does it.
