Gabriel Agbonlahor unimpressed by Tottenham star Bryan Gil vs Frankfurt
Gabriel Agbonlahor was not pleased with Tottenham Hotspur winger Bryan Gil’s performance in the goalless draw against Eintracht Frankfurt last Tuesday.
The 21-year-old came on for Richarlison in the 78th minute to register his first game minutes for the club this season. But in the 12 minutes, he was there on the pitch, Gil failed to impress.
While speaking exclusively to talkSPORT, former Aston Villa forward Agbonlahor was not pleased with the winger’s performance and believes he lacked game time.
“The only option I had to bring on really was Bryan Gil, who didn’t look anywhere near it. No…had not enough game time.”
❌ “Conte doesn’t trust his wingbacks!”

🔥 “Tottenham’s squad isn’t as good as people think, I was looking at it yesterday.”

Gil has had a very turbulent time since joining the north London club last summer. The Spain Under-21 international has struggled to cement a place for himself in the team.
He even spent the second half of last season on loan at Valencia. While he did get playing time there, the winger failed to impress anyone. This season too he is very down the pecking order. He was likely given minutes because Dejan Kulusevski was out injured.
Agbonlahor also acknowledged this and believes that Antonio Conte lacks the numbers in his attack. Should the preferred players be injured, the former striker believes the north London club does not have the numbers.
“And if Kane, Son and Richarlison got injured whilst Kulusevski is out…you know they are struggling for numbers. Look at that squad Spurs have got there and compare it to Arsenal, Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea…they are mile behind for me.”
The former Premier League player is not wrong in his assessment. Should we lose any of our main attackers, we are likely to struggle to replicate their form on the pitch.

Gil has to improve his performance and win the trust of the coach. With congested fixtures ahead, the 21-year-old could be asked to step up and fans will hope that he will be able to do so.
