Transfer News: AC Milan join Tottenham in the race to sign Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah
Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah is now being chased by AC Milan amidst transfer interest from Tottenham Hotspur, AS Roma, Everton, and Leeds United, as per Calciomercato (h/t Shields Gazette).
The 23-year-old Chelsea defender saw action under Thomas Tuchel last season but was slowly isolated from first-team action since April. The trend could continue under new manager Graham Potter.
The Blues, after all, signed Kalidou Koulibaly and Wesley Fofana this summer to add to their defence that already has Thiago Silva and Cesar Azpilicueta. Amidst this, it is hard for Chalobah to get regular playing time.
Whether Fofana’s recent injury against AC Milan turns the tide in the Englishman’s favour remains to be seen. Koulibaly has also not been in the best form himself, so there is still hope for Chalobah.
However, if Spurs are to move for him, then it could prove to be a smart signing. He has some experience of playing in England and at 23, has his best years ahead of him.
The competition isn’t easy – the Toffees, the Whites, I Giallorossi, and I Rossoneri could all offer him playing time as well. Can Spurs do the same?
Eric Dier seems to be in the form of his life while Cristian Romero is arguably our jewel in defence. Ben Davies has filled in as left centre-back, which is a position that Chalobah may be able to fill – if he does end up joining us. Davinson Sanchez and Japhet Tanganga, meanwhile, haven’t become regular starters under Conte.
Milan have shopped from Chelsea before, buying Olivier Giroud and the talented Fikayo Tomori from their hands last summer. Hence, it remains to be seen if that will give them an advantage when it comes to Chalobah’s pursuit.

Spurs’ need for a central defender is evident and Clement Lenglet’s loan arrival from Barcelona proves that. A more permanent solution in our backline is needed. If Chalobah is that man is anyone’s guess at this point.
