Antonio Conte insists Harry Kane has to start scoring in the Champions League for Tottenham this season
Speaking in the pre-match press conference ahead of the Champions League clash against Eintracht Frankfurt as quoted by Football. London, Tottenham manager Antonio Conte insists Harry Kane has to start scoring in the competition this season and carry over his Premier League form to the continental stage.
Despite not scoring in the Champions League yet, there is no doubt that Kane has started off the season on a great note. He is the second-leading goalscorer in the Premier League behind Erling Haaland.
Tottenham find themselves second in the Champions League group just behind Sporting CP. They will want to win today against Frankfurt to make their path to the next round a little more straightforward.
In the previous round of the same clash that took place last week, both sides played a goalless draw. Spurs will want to change that this time around and Kane will be crucial to the Lilywhites getting the three points.
In 12 matches for Antonio Conte’s side across all competitions, Kane has scored eight goals and provided one assist. Usually, a far more prolific chance creator than he has been this season, there is no doubt that those assist numbers will improve.
Conte has thrown his weight behind the Englishman and has admitted that Kane scoring in the Champions League is very essential for Tottenham.
“You know his form, Harry has started the season really well. For us, he is a really important player, scoring goals in the Premier League and we need his goals also in the Champions League.”
Spurs have had a rather mixed start to the season. After a number of impressive performances right at the beginning of the system, they have kind of stalled in recent weeks and have produced unfavourable results.
Whilst the weekend’s win against Brighton would have come as a welcome boost for sure, Spurs will know deep down that it was not their best performance and for large parts of that game, they were the second-best team on the pitch.
Conte will be hoping his side can put in a performance like the game against Leicester City earlier this season to spark them back to life and remind them of how good they can be if they play to their potential.

If Harry Kane can have a good game today, there is no doubt that Tottenham will have a good result against Frankfurt. It remains to be seen if the Englishman can break his Champions League deadlock and inspire his side to the three points.
