Arsenal urged to sign Tottenham Hotspur summer target Allan Saint-Maximin
Speaking in an interview with Genting Casino as quoted by Shields Gazette, former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit has been urged the Gunners to sign Newcastle United winger Allan Saint-Maximin, a player that Tottenham Hotspur were interested in, in the summer.
It has been claimed that both Chelsea and Tottenham were interested in signing the player back in the summer and made a polite enquiry, but were disinterested by a £40million valuation for the player.
One of the most exciting wingers to play in the Premier League, the Frenchman is very talented and can be absolutely unplayable on his day. He has been consistently improving season after season.
Saint-Maximin joined Newcastle United from OGC Nice in 2019 and this is his fourth season in the top flight of English football. He has undoubtedly established himself as the main player for the Magpies on the left flank.
The 25-year-old just made a return from a hamstring injury, making the bench for Newcastle’s clash against Brentford in a match that Eddie Howe’s team trashed the Bees 5-1.
This season, Saint-Maximin has played five games for Newcastle across all competitions prior to his injury in his which he managed to score one and assist two. His G/A numbers have been improving continuously and he is now thriving in the Premier League.
Petit has urged Arsenal, a club whose fortunes have been rising this season to sign the Frenchman for squad depth.
“If they are to strengthen I think they need wingers because Saka, Martinelli and Jesus have been great but they have no one to replace them if they get injured. There are a few in England that would be my dream for Arsenal. Allan Saint-Maximin would be a great signing”
The 25-year-old has been on Tottenham’s radar in the past and the Lilywhites could be interested in signing the player again if they know that he is available. However, he might not be our priority.
