Antonio Conte confirms Tottenham Hotspur plans to permanently sign Dejan Kulusevski for €35m
Dejan Kulusevski has been a revelation for Tottenham Hotspur since signing from Juventus in January earlier this year. However, he is yet to be officially ours on a permanent basis.
Juve sold the Sweden international on an initial loan deal with an option to buy. That option becomes an obligation if certain conditions are met, as per Fabrizio Romano.
That amount stands at €35million, which seems like a bargain from the way he has performed at N17 so far. Now, the Italian manager has seemingly confirmed Spurs’ plan to make Kulusevski their own at the end of the season.
He said on Sky Sports before the match against Eintracht Frankfurt in the UEFA Champions League later tonight (October 12) [h/t Romano]:
“He’s hungry for more and wants to become a top player. It will be a very smart signing for Tottenham.”
Still just 22, Kulusevski has made himself a real force in Tottenham’s attack – so much so that Conte, by his own admission, felt guilty when he dropped him to the bench for the third game in a row to accommodate Richarlison in his starting XI.
Deki, as they lovingly call him at Tottenham, is back in training but ruled out for the clash against the German opponents later tonight. Conte has confirmed that in his pre-match press conference.
He has one goal and three assists in nine games across competitions this campaign. Once he starts getting in his rhythm and starts more regularly, we can expect that number to increase.

After the game against Frankfurt, Spurs have Everton and Manchester United to deal with – two important Premier League games – within the space of seven days. In that regard, it’s a smart call not to risk Kulusevski tonight.
