Tottenham Hotspur draw AC Milan in the UEFA Champions League round of 16
Tottenham Hotspur have been told their opponent for the UEFA Champions League round of 16. They will face AC Milan in what will be a feisty encounter and a rematch of the two games they played against each other in the 2010/11 season.
Peter Crouch’s goal sunk Milan in the round of 16 that season. They would hope that their English forward, Harry Kane, can replicate that memorable moment.
Spurs finished top of their group, above Sporting CP, Olympique de Marseille, and Eintracht Frankfurt. This helped us avoid a number of big teams in the ‘Group Winners’ pot.
However, AC Milan, despite their terrible showings against Chelsea in the group stages, are no easy opponent. They won the Scudetto last season and have game-changing players such as Rafael Leao and Charles De Ketelaere.
Spurs vs AC Milan
Manager Antonio Conte would know AC Milan well from his spell as the manager of Juventus and then Inter Milan. Spurs have their work cut out here.
Milan will fancy their chances against a Tottenham team that has struggled against the big dogs in England this season. They will get great encouragement from watching our clashes against Manchester United, Arsenal, and Chelsea this season.
For Spurs, there could have been easier draws on paper but this is a fixture our fans would expect us to win. The aim will be to better our second-place finish in the 2019-20 campaign and go one step further this time.
