Tottenham Hotspur ‘seriously considering’ a move for Juventus and USA midfielder Weston McKennie
Tottenham Hotspur are ‘seriously considering’ making a move to sign Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie, as per CBS Sports (h/t the Express).
McKennie was an important presence for manager Gregg Berhalter’s USA side when they secured a 0-0 draw against England at the 2022 FIFA World Cup. He has been making a name for himself ever since his time at Schalke 04.
He does play an important role under manager Massimiliano Allegri and has played in 11 games this season so far, missing three of them due to an injury. From the outside, it’s hard to see what could motivate him to make a move to N17 and leave Juve.
He still has over two and a half years left on his contract at the Allianz Stadium (Transfermarkt). But the examples of Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski would not be unbeknownst to him.
McKennie to Spurs?
The duo moved to Spurs in January and since then, have taken their careers to the next level under manager Antonio Conte. The Uruguay international is a regular fixture in our midfield alongside Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
Deki, meanwhile, is brilliant in attack and is giving the likes of Richarlison and Lucas Moura a run for their money. Some would even argue that he deserves to start every week.
His injury was a period we evidently struggled to outscore opponents and consistently perform well. His impact against Liverpool and Leeds United on his return from injury was a sight to behold.
Similarly, one can’t rule out McKennie fighting his way into our XI if he does join us. A penny for our thoughts; he could even be an option to play as a right-wing-back.
