England and Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane on seven-man Real Madrid shortlist

European champions Real Madrid are interested in England and Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane. Los Blancos have the 29-year-old on their transfer shortlist, according to Spanish outlet Sport (h/t Mirror).

The La Liga outfit have seven names they are keeping tabs on during the World Cup. And the Spurs forward is one of the names on the top alongside the Three Lions’ compatriot and Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham.

Other names the Santiago Bernabeu side are ‘closely following’ include Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies, SL Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandez, Leicester City’s Youri Tielemans, German striker Youssoufa Moukoko and Napoli’s Stanislav Lobotka.

Kane has emerged as an option for Madrid as they look for a new centre-forward. Los Blancos president Florentino Perez has been eyeing the 29-year-old for some time now.

Currently, the Spanish giants have Karim Benzema as their talisman. However, the France international is 34 years old. The only natural backup in the number nine position Carlo Ancelotti has at his disposal is Mariano Díaz, who has been underwhelming.

Thus, the Spurs striker would evidently strengthen the La Liga outfit’s squad. However, the England captain is one of our best players. The forward has led our line since his breakout season in the 2014/15 campaign.

Gareth Southgate’s team have secured their place in the knockout rounds of the World Cup in Qatar. Kane has been an influential player. While he could not get on the scoresheet in the group stage, he did provide assists in the Iran and Wales games.

The 29-year-old has been influential under Antonio Conte in the current campaign as well. He is the only forward who has lived up to expectations. The likes of Son Heung-min and others have not been at their best.

Tottenham are evidently a better team with Kane. However, trophies have eluded the 29-year-old during his time in North London. Thus, it remains to be seen whether the prospect of winning titles in Spain entices the England international.
