Denzel Dumfries on Tottenham Hotspur’s radar; Emerson Royal linked with a move to Inter Milan
Tottenham Hotspur have made an enquiry about Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries about a potential move in the near future, as per 90min (h/t Football.London).
But Dumfries, who has been linked with a move to Chelsea to provide competition to Reece James, is ‘unlikely’ to leave Inter Milan in the January transfer window, as per Tuttomercatoweb (h/t the Express).
Moreover, it is claimed that Spurs’ Emerson Royal is eyed as a top target to replace Dumfries if he does end up leaving. The Netherlands international has been linked with a move to Spurs recently as manager Antonio Conte looks to stamp his identity on the team with each passing transfer window.
While there is no claim of a swap deal of any kind, Spurs fans can join the dots and start to dream about the two players swapping places. Dumfries has been a starring presence for the Dutch team at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
A deal made in heaven
He has played in all three of their group-stage games and is expected to retain his starting spot in the knockout rounds. The Inter Milan star is a regular feature in manager Simone Inzaghi’s side as well.
The former PSV Eindhoven man is a rock-solid presence in defence and has played as a right-wing-back for both club and country, highlighting the fact that he is trusted by top managers to contribute in the attacking third of the pitch.
Emerson, meanwhile, continues to divide opinions among Spurs fans ever since he joined us from Barcelona in the summer of 2021. He seems to have a mistake in him every now and then and his attacking end product leaves much to be desired at times.

If possible, the Lilywhites will do well to bring the 26-year-old Dumfries to N17 and solidify our right flank in defence once and for well. We have Matt Doherty and Djed Spence in that position, but Dumfries brings with him experience and arguably, consistency.
