Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate hails Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane before England vs France
France defender Ibrahima Konate has hailed Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane before the World Cup quarter-final clash against England. However, the Liverpool centre-back admits the 29-year-old is not the only player Les Bleus will have to look out for.
Didier Deschamps’ team will take on the Three Lions on Saturday (10 November) at Al Bayt Stadium in Qatar. The two teams are vying for a place in the semi-finals of the prestigious tournament.
Speaking to the media via The Daily Mail, Konate spoke highly of Kane. The two have come up against each other in the Premier League several times before.
“Everyone knows Harry Kane. Kane is an outstanding footballer. I have played against him and he is very tough. This is a big test.
“But he is not England’s only dangerous player, not at all. There are a lot of dangers in their team. We have to take them very seriously.”
England beat Senegal in the round of 16 to progress to the next round at the World Cup. Kane got on the scoresheet for the Three Lions against the Lions of Teranga as Gareth Southgate’s team beat the African side 3-0.
The Tottenham star has led the line in every fixture for his nation. England’s captain has not gotten on the scoresheet a lot in Qatar. However, the forward has impressed with his performances nonetheless.
France made it to the quarter-finals after beating Polan in the previous round. Kylian Mbappe has been a constant threat to opposition teams. It remains to be seen how the Three Lions will cope with him.
Kane has been in fine form for Spurs as well this season. In the previous campaign, the 29-year-old got off to a slow start. But that has not been the case for the striker this time around.
Unfortunately, other forward’s have not lived up to the expectations this season. Son Heung-min has been a bit underwhelming, while Dejan Kulusevksi has had injury issues. Summer signing Richarlison has been decent but has failed to produce the numbers.
