Lucas Moura and Emerson Royal delighted for Tottenham Hotspur teammate and Brazil compatriot Richarlison
Tottenham Hotspur stars Lucas Moura and Emerson Royal are delighted for Brazil compatriot Richarlison for his performances at the World Cup. The former players signed from Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona, respectively, are cheering the 25-year-old on from London.
The former Everton forward was selected by Tite in his 26-man World Cup squad. And the Spurs attacker has been a key player for the Canarinho in Qatar.
In the opening group stage fixture against Serbia, Richarlison scored two goals for Brazil, one of them an overhead kick. Speaking to the club’s official website, Emerson hailed the 25-year-old and said that his strike was reminiscent of the wonderfully athletic goals Pele and Romario scored in their heyday.
“Richy’s crazy! His goal against Serbia was very beautiful, an amazing goal. I spoke with him after that game. I said, ‘Richy, you are crazy!’ This the best goal, a top goal.
“Richy’s goal it’s like Pele, it’s like Romario, such a brilliant goal. I’m so happy for him, he’s a top player but also a top person.”
Moura also expressed his amazement at the Tottenham forward’s wonder strike in the 2-0 win over the Eagles in Qatar.
“That goal was incredible. It’s a special moment for him, and we’re all so happy for him because he’s such a special guy.”
Richarlison signed for Spurs in the summer of 2022 from Everton. In the previous campaign, the 25-year-old was an essential player for Frank Lampard at the Goodison Park side as the Toffees narrowly escaped relegation.
Before making his way to North London, the Brazilian already had vast experience of the Premier League. He joined Watford in the 2017/18 campaign and has since regularly played in the English top flight.
Richarlison was one of the many additions the club made to Antonio Conte’s squad. In previous seasons, we seemed to lack a backup for Harry Kane. However, the Brazilian has been decent for us.
In the current campaign, the 25-year-old has made 15 appearances for the North London side in all competitions. He has found the back of the net two times and provided two assists.

The 25-year-old has already produced some brilliant moments in the Middle East. It remains to be seen whether the South American nation can get their hands on their sixth World Cup title this year.
